Building a better GP and primary care service
Ireland spends as much and more on health as other OECD countries, but we spend less than 4% cent on general practice. By contrast, the UK spends twice as much and still struggles to deliver the service needed. Sláintecare is a welcome recognition of the importance of community based care but it faces considerable obstacles to its implementation. How will the reform plan deliver a better GP and primary care service?
Emeritus Professor of General Practice, Trinity College Dublin, GP and Lead Author of "A future together: Building a better GP and primary care service"
