Janis is leading national health promotion and prevention services across diverse settings. She is a media spokesperson and has presented to several Oireachtas Committees. She convened and is chair of the newly formed Health Promotion Alliance Ireland, an all-island coalition with a shared interest in advocating for major policy change to promote the primary prevention of chronic disease.
Janis is a board member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Faculty of Public Health Medicine and also a board member of The Wheel, the national association for charities and social enterprises. She was appointed by the Minister for Health to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland’s Consultative Council. She originally qualified as a dietitian and is past president of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute.
