Roman graduated in medicine from the University of Barcelona in 2002. His postgraduate medical training took place in Manchester, London, and Dublin. Between 2014 and 2018, he worked as a Consultant Geriatrician at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He is a faculty member of the Global Brain Health Institute and co-chairs the Irish Frailty Network of the Irish Gerontological Society. His research in frailty has been recognised with several awards, including the 2015 British Geriatrics Society Rising Star Award and the 2018 President of Ireland Future Research Leaders Award. In addition to his clinical and research roles, Roman leads Trinity’s online frailty education programmes, including a 12-week Micro-credential in Assessment and Management of Frailty in Ageing Adults and a one-year, part-time Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Ageing and Frailty Studies. Both courses are open to healthcare professionals across all disciplines. He also serves on the Executive Board of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) as Director for Education & Training.
