The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) is the sole national, professional organisation representing Chartered Physiotherapists in Ireland since 19831. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, ISCP has grown f to a robust community of 3,700 physiotherapists. The organisation is volunteer based with a staff of 11 and is a member of World Physiotherapy, enhancing its global perspective. ISCP’s governance structure includes a Board of dedicated volunteers, led by a President and President-elect.
Key initiatives include the Career Pathway and Advanced Practice Framework and an Annual Conference. The ISCP introduced a Tiered Membership Structure and Annual Fellowship Awards to recognise excellence among its members.
The society actively engages in advocacy, resulting in significant achievements such as amendment of legislation to permit physiotherapists to refer for Xray and the inclusion of physiotherapists on the critical skills list. ISCP’s commitment to professional development is evident through its numerous CPD events, webinars, and bursaries for research and training.
ISCP’s sustainability and longevity are underpinned by a forward-thinking vision and strategic initiatives, including the development of a corporate partnership strategy, investment in volunteer and advocacy strategies, student engagement strategy, and establishment of an Inclusion and Diversity Working Group, and a Leadership Academy.
