Linda Weir

Linda joined the Health Information and Quality Authority in 2007 and has worked in a number of teams across the organisation in that time. Linda has overseen the development of a wide range of national standards and implementation support tools for health and social care services and led the development and implementation of a principles-based approach to the development of national standards, focusing on outcomes for people using health and social care services.  She currently leads a team responsible for setting national health information standards with the aim of standardising the collection and recording of health information so that it can be shared in the most effective way possible in order to ensure a high-quality safe service. The team is also currently developing National Guidance for the Responsible and Safe Use of AI in Health and Social Care Services. The Guidance will support services to promote and drive a responsible and safe approach to the use of AI in the health and social care sector in Ireland, underpinned by the principles of: accountability, a human rights-based approach, safety and well-being, and responsiveness.
