Luke is a strategic digital leader with extensive experience of leading change at system and institutional levels, across health and care, industry and academic interfaces. I have a strong commitment to innovation and knowledge transfer. He has a track record in service transformation exploiting digital, data & technology adoption at scale, through effective programme delivery, partnership working, and public trust acknowledged at the highest level of NHS, government and by peers in the public, higher education, and private sectors.
A practising radiographer for the first part of his career, Luke moved on to general management roles and subsequently to digital, data and technology for the last 30 years. He was fortunate to be a clinician during the introduction of some of the early imaging modalities that used digital technology such as computerised tomography, and beyond that to be involved in computerisation of radiology departments early in his health service career.
Luke gained general management experience in several mid-career posts before becoming a leader in digital, data and technology posts, for a number of institutions in various board and related roles. He has a deep understanding of the challenges faced at organisational and system level in bringing about transformational change and the opportunities offered by new technology to empower patients, making the right thing to do for staff as frictionless as possible, using data at scale to drive improvement as near to real time as possible and continuing to focus on investment in infrastructure at large scale. Luke believes in the power that data driven insight has to empower patients & professionals to improve care quality, outcomes, and productivity. We are at a pivotal moment in history to be able to witness and influence this digital transformation in health & care. It is therefore more important than ever that we act collectively with the public to drive through change.
